THINGS TO DO IN POTIDEA

BLUE DIVING CENTER

Blue Diving Center in Potidea is a PADI diving center which will welcome all types of divers – from the total novices to the extremely experienced ones who came here in order to rent the equipment.
The place offers underwater training for all levels of proficiency. The place`s role is to enlarge the participants` knowledge concerning scuba diving. The place offers training for the youngest divers who are 8 years old – the course is called Bubble Maker – as well as for the toddlers who are 10 years old – Discover Scuba Diving.

Most of the programs consist of two phases – theoretical one which is immediately followed by the practical phase. The programs are conducted by qualified and skilled instructors who have been diving for more than 20 years. The participants will be able to explore the underwater world as well as watch numerous fish and crustaceans species in their natural environment.

MARINA TAVERN

The tavern which stands out among all the rest, thanks to a first-class location, design-mag décor, and award-winning seafood. There`s also an impressive wine collection that tops 250 bottles – just ask and they`ll match your dish with the perfect wine.

BAYAMO BAR

This smart spot overlooks the water, so it`s a great place to watch the sunset with a chilled glass of rose. It`s got a bit of a nautical chic look going on, with white-painted wooden chairs, stripy cushions, and huge lanterns. The sleek white bar is massive, so you won`t have to worry about elbowing your way to the front.

CHOW DOWN ON NET-FRESH SEAFOOD

Being a seaside town. Nea Potidea does a great line in freshly netted fish. The best place to get some is at one of the harbor-side tavernas. Watch the fishing boats coming and going with their daily catch, then order the dish of the day – straight from the ocean to your plate.

TREAD THE STREETS OF THEASSALONIKI

Greece`s second city is an hour`s drive away, and it`s well worth the trip. Start the day off with a nose around the Basilica of Sant Demetrios – Greece`s biggest church – then amble around the old quarter`s cobbled lanes. Label lovers should make a beeline for Tsmiski Street – it`s packed with designer boutiques.

NEA POTIDEA

NEA POTIDEA

Nea Potidea canal, which connects Toroneos Bay with the Gulf of Thermaikos, offers a view over the bridge so transfixing that it compels visitors to stop and enjoy it even briefly. Visitors are frequently overcome by the feeling that the Kassandra peninsula is essentially an island whose “gates” are guarded by the picturesque town of Nea Potidea. It is no coincidence that this city, which has played a sovereign role in the area since ancient years due to its location, is known as the “Doors of Kassandra”.

The Justinian wall is located at the inner side of the road that separates the city from the canal. Most of its remaining sections are part of the fortifications of the entrance to the peninsula. The wall ends west, toward the port, where waves crash onto its westernmost tower. Within a walking distance, approximately one kilometer southeast of the town. there is a chapel of the Archangels, built in 1872 with materials from Ancient Potidea.

In present days, Nea Potidea paints a very different picture. It is pedestrianized with bicycle lanes, kiosks, bridges and a beach located two kilometers in the east, ideal for taking walks and swimming. On the westward steep shore of the beach, there is a fish wharf and the marina is filled with professional and amateur fishing boats. The sine qua non of a visit to the area is fresh fish, which visitors can enjoy in one of the many local taverns offering magnificent views overlooking the isthmus. The most romantic ones can enjoy the sunset under the Nea Potidea lighthouse located near the beach and then cool down with a drink at one of the area`s bars seemingly embraced by the sea, watching the stars while listening to tranquil music.

Halkidiki

Opojna kombinacija plave i zelene

Prirodno izvajan u obliku Posejdonovog trozupca, zaronjen u Egejsko more, Halkidiki predstavlja pravu poslasticu za turiste.

Kako stići do Halkidikija

CHALKIDIKI

An intoxicating combination of blue and green

Shaped like Poseidon`s trident and sticking out into the Aegean Sea, Chalkidiki is a treat for visitors. Lush green forests that reach right down to the beach; golden sunlight reflected in the turquoise waters; a traditional style with a rich gastronomic and cultural heritage. Endless coves, unique architectural sites, perfectly preserved Christian monument and a host of unexplored treasures all add their own rich touch to the unique canvas that is Chalkidiki.

Among the intoxicating blend of blue and green, the visitor will find major hotel complexes built to the highest standards, particularly on the first of the three `legs`, cosmopolitan Kassandra. Here there are also traditional seafront guesthouses, little-hidden treasures and marinas along the coast at Sithonia. as well as some unique archeological sites. These include Ancient Olynthus. Stageira, the birthplace of Aristotle and, of course, Mount Athos, a unique Christian monument, untouched by the passing of time and a living monument to Byzantine culture, standing in the midst of untouched nature.

Chalkidiki is also a home to many earthly paradises for those who love mountains. Paths for mountain biking and walking cut their way through the forests of pine, oak, fir and chestnut trees. Here you can feel the pure air refreshing every cell in your body and crystal clear refreshingly cool water gushes from dozens of hidden springs for you to quench your thirst. If you`d like to stay in the mountains, check out the traditional guesthouses at Holomontas and in other areas up on the mountain slopes.
Of course, anyone who wants to truly feel the vastness of the Aegean and overdose on adrenaline at the same time needs to devote a little time to some serious sea sports! Windsurfing, kite surfing, diving, water skiing and many other sea sports activities are all on offer for you here – and the facilities in Kassandra and Sithonia are excellent. Every July a major swimming event takes place here at Toroneos, one for the world`s largest events at 26 km. The competition attracts swimmers from all over the world.

Also, during summer, a lot of remarkable artistic festivals take place in many parts of Chalkidiki.
Music provides the main focus, but the performing arts are also prominent, and every summer the region`s open-air theaters play host
to some major presentations.

This area is so well known – yet at the same time much of it is yet undiscovered. Let`s have a look around it – there`s as a surprise at every turn!
